From the top deck you can watch the sun rise over the Atlantic and, if you're lucky, see a band of wild Spanish mustangs wander the dunes below. After dark, switch the lights off and look up — out here, with no town glow for miles, the night sky fills with more stars than you've ever seen. Oceanfront 6-Bedroom Retreat
Located at 1610 Sandfiddler Road, Corolla, NC 27927, Shore House sits directly on the beach in Corolla's celebrated 4-wheel-drive area — the wild, uncrowded stretch north of the paved road where the famous Corolla horses still roam free.
Six bedrooms sleep twelve, with a private pool, a game room with a pool table, a gourmet kitchen, and ocean views from nearly every deck. Reaching the house is part of the adventure: you'll drive the beach to get here, so a four-wheel-drive vehicle is a must. This guide walks you through all of it.
Arrival & Check-In
Everything you need for a smooth arrival at 1610 Sandfiddler Road. Because the home is in the 4×4 area, please read the Beach & 4×4 section below before you make the final drive in.
⚠️ Air down before you drive in
Shore House can only be reached by driving on the sand. Lower your tires to 18–20 psi at Historic Corolla Park before you head to the ramp (details below), drive slowly, and keep to the hard-packed sand. You'll also need a Currituck beach parking permit — $50 per vehicle, bought online and picked up at the Visitor's Center.

Driving the 4×4 Beach
The pavement (NC-12 / Ocean Trail) ends just north of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. From there north — including Shore House — the “road” is the beach itself. Here are the stops that make the drive easy — both just off NC-12 on Hunt Club Drive.
1. Beach Parking Permit
If neededYou'll need a Currituck beach parking permit to park on the sand: $50 per vehicle, bought online and picked up in person at the visitor center. Required from the 2nd Saturday in May through the last Saturday in September.

2. Air-Down Station (deflate)
Do this firstBefore you ever touch the sand, lower all four tires to 18–20 psi for traction. Air down at the air station in Historic Corolla Park, then head up to the 4×4 ramp. Don't wait until you're on the ramp to deflate.

3. Free Air-Up Station (re-inflate)
FreeWhen you leave the beach for the last time, re-inflate to normal road pressure at the free air stations in Historic Corolla Park — the same spot you aired down, on the west (sound) side of NC-12 near the picnic pavilion. Four hoses, plenty of room.

🐎 Sharing the beach with the wild horses
The Corolla mustangs are protected by law and they have the right of way. Stay at least 50 feet away, never feed or touch them, and slow to 15 mph within 300 feet of horses or people. Beach speed limit is otherwise 35 mph. Drive on the hard-packed sand, watch for soft spots and tides, and never park where you'd block the “lanes.”

This is a smoke-free home, indoors and on all decks.
No Events
No parties or events beyond the 12-guest occupancy without prior approval.
Pets
Up to 2 dogs welcome with prior approval. Please clean up after them.
Beach Gear
Rinse off sand at the outdoor shower — keep it out of the pool and house.
Pool
No glass near the pool. Children must be supervised at all times.
Quiet Hours
Please keep it neighborly between 10 PM and 8 AM.

You'll air up and drive down to the village for these. Most are clustered around TimBuck II and Monteray Shores — about 20–30 minutes from the home depending on the beach and tides.

From wild horses to a brick lighthouse you can climb — the northern Outer Banks pack a lot into a few sandy miles.
Corolla Wild Horse Tours
Guided off-road excursions into the dunes to find the Colonial Spanish mustangs. Or, since you're staying in the 4×4 area, you may simply spot them from the deck. Tours run ~$50 adults.
Currituck Beach Lighthouse
Climb 220 steps up the 1875 red-brick tower for panoramic views of sound, ocean and park. Open daily 9–5 (seasonal), ~$10 to climb.
Whalehead & Historic Corolla Park
Tour the striking 1920s yellow Art Nouveau Whalehead mansion (~$10), then wander 39 sound-front acres with kayak launches and shaded picnic spots.
